If this post is not in the right spot or something I apologize.

Because of quill's DND videos on youtube I have been possessed by a frenzied interest in joining in a similar game.

problems though, I have absolutely no idea about anything necessary and vital to be apart of such an amazing experience.

If anyone is interested in a consistent and available person such as myself, I am offering, but I need a guide, or atleast someone to point me to a tutorial or something.

I want to play, and you want to play with me. :P

I've been involved in a few such gaming groups, but am looking to find another one (Wednesday evening, or any time Thursday, prefarably). MapTools can be found here [  http://www.rptools.net/index.p.....=downloads  ] and that's the first step. I also suggest getting Token Tools, to make your own token to use on the maps, which is very easy to do and FAR better than relying on the tokens provided by MapTools. Beyond that, Skype or Vent, or a similar program to talk is all you should need.

 

The other options on the download page, I haven't looked into yet, so while they may help, I've found you can get by without them.

 

I'm hoping this helps. And, if anyone is interested in a 4e game, I'd be interested in joining. I've never DMed, but might be willing to try on a rotating basis; Each player taking a turn now and again. Mainly interested in being a player character however.

I am in a similiar boat as the one mentioned above; watching quill's videos and then becoming completely enthralled despite not having any other resource to jump in myself.

 

Seemingly unlike our topic-starter, however, I had managed to research far enough into the mechanics involved within the videos to get the nessesary tools to get started, albeit with one less-than-minor issue:

Having never played a PnP RPG before, I have absolutely no clue how to make my own character sheet from scratch. I have observed the useage of WotC's sheet-maker before, but regrettably lack the funds to subscribe to the Insider myself at the present time.

All I require of somebody is some method of assistance in which I may be able to make my character, be it through said method of WotC's sheet-maker or some sort of written tutorial.

I would start a campaign but I can't DM. Basically I would join any active campaign if you can fit me in, I'm moderately experianced with the game itself. All I'm missing is the online program and whatever else I might need for the online part, but I've got all the resources for char making which I've done on numerouse occasions.

I remember the first time Quill showed me World of Warcraft. As a long time (since 1980) player of D&D and then AD&D I went crazy for WoW. We joined a role-playing server (Kirin Tor) and took the D&D experience into a world where we could SEE and walk through and hear the places we were adventuring in. We created a guild, had our own events, created our own goals, and role-played our very carefully created characters. *nods* Table top gaming came to living color. :D Oh yeah, awesome days.

I am introducing my friends to D&D and I am the DM I plan on using the Neverwinter Campaign Setting. I wish I could subscribe to D&D because making characters from scratch is confusing as hell for me. If anyone could help me make the characters I would be grateful. Also what does 1/2 a level mean, as it appears several times while making the character. For my character when I get to play I want to play as the Moon Elves, a variant of Eladrin that is much more social and is also more welcoming to living in other races societies listed in the Neverwinter Campaign Setting, or the Kenku, an Avian-like race that is listed in the Monster Manual but is also covertable to be a player character race.
